World cup over what next...

Wow!! Finally world cup is over and Italy won. I was expecting them to win but not through PK’s but during regulation time itself. The French played a better game and the better team lost but through no fault of the Italians. In any case Soccer is rather like life. A Shakesperian Tragedy. Quel Dommage.

I would not comment on the Red card issue but there were too many mistakes that referees made I'd be all for some kind of replay system, because the games were as much about diving as anything, this will surely slow down the game but I guess it will be fair too.

I watched the final with couple of my American friends and one of them followed the world cup keenly but was disappointed by it. He said… “This is the first World Cup I've ever paid attention to, and it might be my last. What a strange sport--most of the games seemed to consist of somebody being brushed up against, falling down and rolling around on the ground as if he were shot, followed by the crowd whistling in unison.

And then after most of the games go through 90 minutes of 0-0 or 1-1, they go to penalty kicks, which is like ending a World Series (Baseball finals played between teams of two American cities.. sometimes played between 2 teams of same city) game with a home run hitting contest.

I understand it's by far the most popular sport in the world, but I guess it's just not my cup of tea.”

On my part I enjoyed the game very much especially with beer flowing around at the same time I feel a void.. now what.. world cup is over, no cricket for few months, no tennis for sometime and no basketball and football either… what am I going to watch on TV, I no longer have any reasons not to listen to wife…
